    Can someone post the different engine codes such a B3, B6, Bp, etc. and explain what they are and what cars they are found in? This is somewhat confusing to say the least. I found a sticky on transmissions, none on engines.

    This has been posted before.

    All the mazda engines that fit in our car are B series
    So

    B1 = 1.0 SOHC not sold in USA
    B3 = 1.3 SOHC
    B6 = 1.6 SOHC
    B6T= 1.6 Turbo DOHC
    B8 = 1.8 SOHC
    BP = 1.8 DOHC
    BPT = 1.8 DOHC Turbo variant from Japan

    They are all found in a number of cars I will let someone else answer that.

          The is also an option with the Aussie market the B5.
          Available as both 12v sohc, and 16v sohc.

          I also beleive there was another (but rare), B3 dohc??
          I tried to look for the pictures, to no avail?
          There was one owned by an Aussie guy who imported a jap spec 94, and i'm sure it had two cams?

            Yes there is, I saw some engine pics. I think the guy who posted the pics was from the Phillipines...

                    GLCs had the 8 valve B5 in them as well. Actually used a timing chain instead of a belt. Except for the pollution control crap on it that was a pretty good engine

                        I don't see the Miata engines listed here. Is there a reason? Different engine family?

                          i beleive that engine wasn't available in north america (correct me if i'm wrong) therefore it's a far from common swap

                            There were different engines in the miata depending on the year. The B6D is missing from the list and I believe that was available in the miata as well as in some of the mx-3s.

                              I thought we were just keeping it the simple engines for the Festiva and what we use. The miata engines don't normally become swaps do they because of the different wiring?
