  • Cold Air intake VAF help!

    Hey guys,

I have been thinking of doing a CAI setup for a while and i did tons of research on the website.. and my question is relating the VAF..
    look at the pic below

DO you guys think putting the VAF inverted will create problems? I really want to know, as i am going to the shop tomorrow to get the pipe made, and i will post pics once i am all done with intake and my new Cam(thanks to rolla)

that's because poor Techno is in storage for the time being. I won't be getting to him for some time, yet. I have three other projects ahead of him that really need to be finished.

I understand how that goes. I have a 240sx that has needed a head but it has been sitting for about 2 years now because other things keep getting put on the list above it. I am glad techno is in good hands. I was planning on picking it up but with us buying a new house at the time we just couldn't afford to, though I would have loved to have the opportunity.

I just bought a festiva that has a car alarm installed. The car needs alot of work.

Wouldn't gravity act on the vane if it was in other than the way it was designed. Does the vane fall to the closed position when the engine is off or otherwise no air flow? I know some say it works fine but does the "vertical" mounting throw off the calibration? Or is there a position sensor on the vane as there is on the throttle?
Lots of questions. I'm curious though.

well i can assure you, it works, as i put together the cold air intake just the way pic on the first page shows...
I am not sure if it throws off the readings... but i have had no problems with it..

And yes, VAF falls back to closed position where engine is off!

I tried that when I did my swap and it wouldnt work for me. I couldnt get the motor to rev past 3500rpm. I mounted it level. I dont know why it wouldnt work for me if it works for you guys. I just assumed it needed to be level.
