Anyone ever thought of using motorcycle pistons. I know the honda valkyrie has a 71mm bore but a 61mm stroke. Hell it even has a 9.8:1 compression ratio. Anyone think these would work?
The piston diameter might be ok, but what about the wrist pin diameter or the connecting rod width?
b6 is not a bad deal that is also how much i paid for the car. but is putting the the heavier motor afect the fun to drive factor as far as cornering?
The B6 is actually lighter
and as other have already said yeah the motorcycle pistons might fit the bore but as far as attaching to anything else that would probably be custom. Once again more money.
The Bp is a good swap too.
It's a good thing you don't read the stickies, you might of learned something.Poverty produces creativity
I must admit this revival gave me a good chuckle. Anyone who knows anything knows a straight up engine swap is going to net you the best HP results for the least amount of cash. Unless youve recently joined and havent done ANY reading of the stickies or used the "Search" function AT ALL since joining. To even consider doing something custom with the B3 automatically negates the whole purpose of a Festiva. "Cheap Fun"

I usually agree with you, but I disagree on this one. Festivas aren't just about cheap fun. They're also about being different and original. i have to admit, I've been eying a set of Yamaha polysherical pistons I have...
Look at EVOGUN. I know that conversion wasn't cheap. Matt's BPT car took a significant investment. In fact, me and the 'fearless leader' (25Horseplay) have discussed many times what we could do with a B3.
I think the point here is that I don't feel there are any real rules regarding these cars. Just have fun with them!

True, using m/c pistons can be very costly. Lots of factors need to be considered; pin hieght, pin dia, valve clearance, chamber clearance, etc.... Definately not a bolt-in procedure. Lots of machining and custom, one-off parts may be involved.
