Still be nice to know what sort of configuration was in that B3 XPNSYD.

WTFman2 i think your being too literal, yeah the guy posted at LEAST 10hp but maybe because he thought it was a small increase without considering that it's like 15%. Surely the post saying well you could achieve 10% (6hp or so) by doing this.

Oh and and option available to increase power on a carby festiva in Australia might just be bolting on a 16v head from a 121 Bubble Sedan. Swap out the TBI for the carby, run thinner synthetic oil, stick to 98 octane, nail the timing.

Prob cost him at the most AU$200:idea:

    While you at it
    Put a towing cam (torquey)
Swap out the single pipe exhaust for a dual pipe in a late 80's 121 hatch

    Another $100?

    10 hp?
    (Haters please don't hate )

by the way, the 16 valve head in a 121 has the motor mount that you need for a b6t swap. do you think you could get me another from a yard near you?

            ...

I just find it COMPLETELY WRONG to suggest that you tear your engine out and swap it for another just because you want a little more UMPH. :x EVERY ENGINE CAN BE MADE TO PRODUCE MORE POWER. 10 hp isn't going to change the world, just give the B3 a bit more to go over the hill. To suggest to someone who has a perfectly good running engine in thier car that they should remove it and drop in another block just because they wanted a bit of power is a bit DUMB. Some people don't have the capacity to turn screwdrivers - but they still want to play. This summurizes MOST of the world. Lets look at it another way - out of 100 percent of the festivas made - less than 1 percent will EVER get modded in any sort of way. That leaves 99 or more percent of the same cars being driven to death. Lets say that one of the 99 percenters see this site and say - That would be great if I could be like them. They have no skills, probably take thier car to Jiffy Lube to get the oil changed too. But they still want to try. Well, he comes on the site and asks some simple questions about how he can mod his car to make it more unique or make it a little quicker. THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO WIN NEWBIES OVER AND TO KEEP THEM DRIVING A FESTIVA! LET THEM TINKER WITH THIER B3's! THEY CAN BE MODDED AND MOST OF THE MODS FIT A B6 WHEN THEY LEARN HOW TO DO A MOTOR SWAP TOO!! But instead of help at this point they get told that the only way they can make thier car quicker is to swap out the motor. Hmm. The guy says, "Well I will just keep driving my car" instead of hanging around and trying to do little things that might help his car out. Lets turn away more potential festiva owners from this site by scaring them into thinking that they need to swap the engine out of thier car or no one on this site will even consider talking to them. 8) Wouldn't it be nice if we could get a larger fanbase? Maybe more members? Maybe keep the members that show up from dissappearing? Has anyone given any sort of thought to this problem? There are people out there who drive B3's and don't want to swap them out. Maybe we should try to support these people instead of turn them away or make them feel stupid or dumb for not wanting to perform a engine swap (which takes a large degree of technical knowhow) for thier first mod to thier car. Everyone has to start somewhere. Festiva owners should ultimately desire an engine swap to pull the most out of thier cars. But for the people just starting out, why don't we give them some room and HELP them instead of SCARE them. Sure, an engine swap is the way to go, but lets get the NEWBIES feet wet so they are more comfortable with the idea before just dumping the 'swap' on them.
Fast, fun and good gas mileage. 91' Festiva(RIP) and 96' Aspire(RIP). The website is no more.

WTFman i have no idea how much postage would be but if you are willing to pay like $50 for the the bracket i could strip one from a self serve wreckers. don't know when i will be out west (happy 70km to way drive to other side of Sydney) but i can put on my list if it's cheaper i can pass it on but wreckers seem to make up prices on the spot so I can't Be to sure.

i was going to go sohc 16v myself but won a complete reconditioned head from 98 festiva (aspire) with manifolds, fuel rail and throttle body so i figured it was better than pulling from a junker (also aiming for the most mundane stock looking engine ever.. it's a sleeper thing )

I still think the b3 has plenty of possibilities. i wouldn't bother turbo one but that doesn't rule out forced induction. Mounting a small supercharger with a air con bracket plus a bit of plumbing set to low boost. Bolt on bolt off. Then you could take it a step forward by swapping in a b6 head. why? well if the chamber volume is greater it would reduce the compression and the cam/valves would be set for coping with an extra 300cc. Up the boost a bit more...

(again theory till i find out if the b6/b3 heads have the same cylinder head volume... the slight differences in block and gaskets makes me hope they are diff)

Some may be thinking. Why bother? You may as well just put the b6 in and be done. Well the hp may be the same or less even but the torque spread would be way better than a stock B6.

the only argument to counter this is that you could do the exact same things to the b6 block once it's in. Which in my opinion is a wank argument. If you want to say that b3 has no possibilities in the face of a b6 but concede that any ideas for the b3 are valid to improve the b6 ....

Remember we like our uniqueness (as people like minis, mokes, beetles, samurai/sierras) We are not cut from the same cloth as the v8 muscle car or Honda nuts. We should be developing ways to reflect this. We are enthusiast here. Others don't understand.

Still i got my car cause it was a cute little funtop and fell in love with the sunroof design. Once i learned more and more about it i started to like other aspects of it (sorry guys i don't think i could own a non-funtop 121 or festiva... there are other hatches i like for other reasons)

I have no intention of putting the latest v6 or v8 to shame or take out the high revving celica or lancer. What i do want is to laugh when a guy puts a sports exhaust and mags on his 1.6/1.8/2.0 L economy box and thinks he has oh-so-much power over me(well i will be cheating slightly ) or to make the big clunking motor heads in there tanks snarl at them when i zip pass them whilst changing lanes

*ENOUGH of the drama here, guys. If you have a suggestion, post it. If you want to argue, your post will be deleted from here on.
                thanks,
                jeff*

the guy asked for suggestions. Someone suggested an engine swap - it's a viable option. So are all the options associated with leaving the B3 intact.

I paid $125 for my B6. Took almost 2 weeks to finish my swap without working real hard at it. My B6 was from a '92 323, so not a direct bolt in, but still pretty simple for even me.

My SUGGESTION would be to think seriously about your mechanical ability. If you think you're not up for an engine swap, start more simply with the tune-up, etc...
