  • B3 turbo fitting. Where to put the air flow meter?

I have a b3 engine fuel injection in a 1995 Kia pride and I had fitted a turbo. I would like to know where the air flow meter must be. Is it before it enters the turbo or in the boost pipe, after the turbo?

    Thanks

Actually either will work. Depending on circumstances "blow thru" might work better.

Blo thru works better it meters all the air being pushed into the motor. Faster spool too.

blow thru on carbs is the best application.. fuel injection i would go the other way...

Blo thru is not just for carbs. Thats just what they call carbs with turbos you have to blo thru them because you would have your fuel/air mix going thru the turbo. I have tried both. Pulling thru the maf meter with the trap door was restrictive. I made an adapter and put my maf inline it cut spool times drastically. It also keeps the air/fuel ratio alot closer to where it needs to be. (that what my air/fuel ratio gauge tells me) anyhow. It work better for me. my 2cents

in line works the best... also then you can run a VTA BOV and not worry about it messing with you A/F. as long as its before the VAF...

I am trying to boost only 5 psi but my internal wastegate keeps on going to about 9 psi. How can I make it opens sooner?

For that you will have to change the spring or add a helper spring to lessen the load of your wg spring

put a spring on your WG shaft pulling down 4lbs to change the pressure it will open at... in other words with that spring on shaft it will still be a 9lb spring in the WG but with that other 4lb spring on there it should open at 5lbs...

if you need a pic of where you need to put the spring i can find one on google for you...

I don't understand how it can lower boost. I think it's the other way round. It will continue holding to 13lbs. Can you find some pics for me please?

the helper spring pulls the wastegate in the open direction. lowering the force required to open the gate. you would have to attach it to the flapper then pull away from the stock wastegate vaccume unit. oh and blow thru is the only way to go.
