B3 turbo fitting. Where to put the air flow meter?

    ok the arow is the actuator arm, you need to add a spring from your arm to the wastegate pulling or pushing them together which ever way you WG moves... it will make the wastegate think its under a 4lb load all the time... so when it reaches 5lbs it thinks its at 9lbs and it opens up... if you get a small hand air pump and a air pressure gauge you can adjust the pressure it opens up.

      Now about the fuel upgrades, I can't run 5 psi on stock fuel. I have no fmu or fuel pressure regulator. Can I put a restrictor in the fuel return hose pipe to make more pressure in the fuel rail? Will the stock injectors have enough fuel for 5 psi boost?

        put in some b6 injectors and a rx7 fd fuel pump, that should do it...

        and if i where you i would get a wide band A/F meter... and maby a fuel pressure meter too...

          ingenious idea with adding the helper spring to offset the wastegate spring. Ive been wonderin how i was going to adjust the boost on my vj14. Thank You. As for my Turbo project its coming along at a medium pace, being that the vehicle is my daily driver im taking no short cuts and doing as much research as possible so i can have a well engineered system that functions and remains durable for a long time. So far ive sourced another stock aspire manifold (car-part.com is awesome) shortened it and removed the section that had the o2 bung. Fabricated my inlet and down pipe flanges out of 3/8 mild steel, Installed my EGT bung in the collector of the manifold, modified the heat shield to accept the turbo flange and egt sensor. sourced and mounted and plumbed in a vortech 12:1 FMU. does nothing without boost so it just sits there.. Sourced all of my fittings for the oil inlet system, im going to run a 1 foot 4 -an Braided hose from the turbo banjo bolt to a 1/4 brake line back to the sending unit with a couple of tees to allow me to add an oil pressure gauge. Ive purchased a greddy rs blow off valve which is enroute as we speak. i still havent decided what im going to do for timing control but i would much like to run a knock sensor setup rather than pulling timing out of it acutated by boost using a btm. i still may go that route to begin with but ive been thinking of possible mega squirt usage as well. i still need to source a drainpipe for the turbo. ive seen the taiwan ones on ebay even though its just a drain im leary of purchasing one. im not skimping on anything oiling system, save a few buck and blow a line on the road and your screwed.. the only thing ill be cheap on is intake tubing connectors or crap like that to an extent. sure Im gonna have more money in it than a b6t, but it will still be fun. I had one by the way in a 1992 capri xr2. I bought that car for 850 bucks with 68K on it specificly for the swap. Say what you will about the capri, I loved that car. i ended up doing some body work, new windshield, and replaced the soft top and a number of custom things and sold it 2 years later for 3300 bucks and bought my Beautiful 03 DSG Lightning. sorry for the "QUICK" reply.....

            What opens your exsisting fuel pressure reg now (you know, flow back to the tank) is the presence of vacuum, that same thing happens now...till you go to boost, that boost is now trying to push the reg closed for you (aka the restriction you're thinking about) Your exsisting fuel pump will keep up with 5 psi, even if you upgrade to b6 injectors. Been there, done that. A air/fuel ratio gauge will be able to show you that. You'll also have a problem with a tip in. When the vacuum gives way to boost, the ecm will want to cut fuel. Think about a 02 voltage clamp. What did you do about your pcv valve?

                Pcv I just vented the valve cover at the other end. Most pcv's will only flow 1 way. As far as fuel, get a 12:1 fmu this will keep your ratios rite. And add a inline fuel pump under the hood. Regular fuel press. is 40lbs. Most pumps will stop flowing at less than 100 lbs. So I would go no higher than 4-5 lbs. with the stock fuel system, and an fmu. Stock injectors will work fine with the fmu.

                  so to install the fmu, the stock pressure regulator must be removed or install it after the regulator? I installed a fuel pressure gauge and it showed 32lb/in2 at idle with vacuum to the regulator & 42lb/in2 at idle without vacuum. Are lb/in2 the same as psi? Are these numbers good or is there a problem with the pressure?

                    Those numbers are fine. The fmu goes inline behind the stock fuel press. reg. In the return line to the tank. The only other thing is to get the fmu a boost reference. Just tee off the fpr vacuum line. You will have alot less running issues if you put a fmu. And you can go to 8-10 lbs. Just make sure your motor is healthy and pull 1 degree of timing per lbs. of boost.

                            can anyone describe the operation of an oxygen sensor voltage clamp to offset the issue with an ecm and fpr seeing 0in ofvacuum. is this issue common during the transtion from vacuum to boost? havent gotten to that point yet just wondering if i can be enlightend
