Well i still intend on at least getting a hold of a probe transmission to see if the differentials are interchangable, i'm not sure if i'll start a V6 swap in the near future but it'll at least give me an idea as to whether its worth trying or not

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

If flyin4stroke doesn't buy one of the two Festivas in our town, I'll be coming home with two in about 3 weeks. One will be dedicated to something of this nature, but I'll probably just try to make the Probe axles (shortened of course) and hubs fit.

So, for about the same price as a fully-loaded 1993 Ford Festiva, you could also wield the power to obliterate a small village in the blink of an eye.

They use the mx-3 axles for BG 323s not BF 323s

Exactly!! which is where my idea came from.... and all this talk about a probe V6 transplant has gave me wet dreams, so i picked this up today... A probe V6 transmission!! and the best is, it was free!!

Here is a pic of a 323 GT tranny (sorry for the crappy pics, my cell phone doesn't work well for taking pictures when it starts getting dark)

And this is the Probe tranny

They are very VERY similar!!! the shifter lever on the tranny is the same, the fifth gear cover looks the same, even some of the bolt hole are in the same spot, and the whole half of the tranny looks almost identical, if the differentials will interchange, i see this being extremely possible to swap into a festiva

I will be tearing the two trannies apart in the next week or so to experiment with :evil4::evil4:

All you should have to do is swap the ring gear on the diffs.

You're probably right, but once i dig into them and have both diffs in my hands i will make note of any differences

I plan on taking plenty of pictures with my good camera for reference to anyone else who'll want to try this IF it works

I forgot to mention, where i got the tranny, there were 3 more trannies and 2 KL-DE engines, so i think if this works out i should be able to get most of the parts needed to do a swap :evil4:

Where can I find info on the KL 323 swap? I haven't been able to find anything on here, but maybe it's because my Boolean characters are wrong for what I'm looking for.

                        Check this out

Pulling the BP-ZE for a GTX or GTR? Installing a G series transmission in a stock F series car? Looking to replace the LSD in your MSP? need wiring help on the swap? this is the place.

Reporting back, i just got done tearing the two trannies apart and there is virtually no differences in the internal parts, the ring gear on the probe tranny is slightly thicker though but i don't think it would stop the 323 diff from working in the probe tranny

                            Pics are coming soon
