I Believe the last Years (92-93) on the Festiva were Different than they were in Previous Years. I believe the crank seal was bigger too.

interesting... anyone have pictures of each (pre 92, post 92) pulleys?

I think eurotiva is refering to the 92-93 festiva Engine Not BP

Okay I know this topic is for a escort but, this might be helpfull a 1991-1994 mazda protege had the big nose crank (big pulley) and a 1995-? has the small nose crank (small pulley). I've got a small pulley from a 1995 protege I bought for my b8 swap and it wont work because its to small. My b8 came from a 1994 protege. I don't know if this helps any but maybe in the future it will help someone who uses the search feature. (ha ha who does that?)

The 95 up proteges were a different family of engines.

92-93 festivas had the "large" nose crank.

Aspire's had the big nose crank and had a serpintine.

all b6/b8/b6t/bps have the large nose crank, except real early b6/b8s

Some special festivas that had p/s and a/c had a serpintine belt...?

If these aren't correct then someone correct me.

I actually used the "small" crank pulley on my b8 till i found the proper one. I had to machine a spacer for it tho.

And I'll be pulling my motor out soon, so I'll take pics of both.

Pic of the 93 pulleys below. They have a larger hole and no notch

The pre 1993 pulleys have a smaller hole and a key notch like the one below.

If you ever want to put an aspire motor in a festiva you will need the pulley set for a 1993 festiva. The aspire uses the flat belt.

I have a pulley from a 1995 protege and I just fit it onto a b3 I have in my building and it fits perfectly. The only problem is I dont know what year the b3 in my building is. When you unbolt the pulley from the timing gear does the timing gear have a lip on it? My 1994 b8 timing gear was flush, however the b3, and 1995 b8 timing gear have a small lip on them. Id take pics but at the moment I've no batteries. Ill see what i can do.

Didnt see those pics. The engine I have in the building is a pre 93 b3 and the crank timing gear and pulley from a 1995 b8 fit on it perfectly.

Notice the deep "dish" in the pre '92 crank pulley. The 92 & 93 crank pulleys are much flatter. Along with all the other required attributes already listed.

93 B3 pulley fits right onto the BP crank snout (at least on my BP it does).

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.
