  • 6 Puck Clutch or Dual Spring Pressure Plate?

    Hey guys,

I got a guy with a machine shop that can fix me up a dual spring pressure plate via a walk-through. My question is this: Would this be a more viable alternative than doing a 6-puck clutch? I can imagine it'd grab harder without the teeth destroying force of a 6-puck. Also, it'd be cheaper in the long run. I'll have to daily drive the car when its done but I'll still be making decent power after I get it all set-up. Any problems with dual-spring pressure plates other than them making the clutch pedal harder to push down?

Walkthrough I'll be using is this: http://fordfestivaaspire.yuku.com/topic/1113 Pretty simple sounding to make.

well the upgraded pp will give you more clamping force. the 6 puck grabs better than a stock full face clutch disc due to better friction material and the same load over less area equalling more force psi. so use both together. is the 6-puck clutch disc sprung or solid?if youre worried about streetability you might not want solid.

The last Festy that I drove with a 4 puck solid disk (a B6-T) was pretty much a pain in normal traffic. Clutch full engagement was 1/2 inch off the firewall, regardless of how the cable was adjusted.

Focustiva: Because I was told it was was impossible to fit a Focus bumper on a Festiva.

i have 75 miles left til my 6 puck ceramic/copper disk and 1700lb pressure plate are broke in...it chatters a little on take off or spins the tires...but after that its fine. and it was only 150 shipped. cant beat that for a price. its for my b6t with g25mr trans. the best part is that the clutch pedal effort is the same as stock.
I know its a piece of crap but im still faster...and its 100% legal!!!!!

Interesting read & pics on the link. Seems to me it'd be advised to get a heavier duty clutch cable as well, unless of course you're running a juicer tranny.
