  • Oil catch tank for any engine.

My b3 have been burning oil and have blowby. The intake was filling with oil after very short time. So I have bought an oil catch tank that have three nipple outlets. Two of them are at the top and the other one is at the bottom. I connected one of the top nipples for the outlet from the valve cover and the other, I routed some pipe to the back of the car. Also routed the lower nipple to the engine oil pan. Here is the photo.

I would route it back to the intake rather than dumping to atmosphere, thats metered air youre venting, probably causing you to run slightly rich in some cases.

I don't think so about the metered air because, I have plugged the intake hole.

he is venting the valve cover, thats just blowby, not metered air. I would still route it back to the intake instead, that way you get some crankcase scavenging. Thats how its supposed to work.

The reason that I vented to atmosphere is that the engine have lots of blowby and still gets some oil from the outlet pipe even after the oil catch can and if I reroute it back to the intake it will have oil in the intake and the vaf meter and the filter.

Sounds like the engine is asking for some TLC.

Anyway, you should make sure that you vent it in a way that it creates a pressure differential large enough to scavenge those gases. You can run the pipe under the car with the opening facing the back and that should help.
