    i have an 89 lx fi i wanted to put another motor in it i found couple of aspire motors cheep just wonduring if its a direct fit ? thanks

    i dont think from what i been told, that the 89 efi is the same as 90-93 efi.
    but others can tell you for sure

      It's the same motor, so should be a direct fit. If you just use the long block and plug the Festy stuff into the Aspire long block, don't see why there would be any problems.

      But why not upgrade to a B6? Also basically the same motor block, just bored and stroked. You'll love the extra power, and it's only a small hit on MPG.

        well this is good to know i'm actually upgrading the 88 head to 97 aspire head with wire harness and ecu for the 5 speed .

        but do i have to change my tank or just the fuel pump ?

          Just out of curiosity because I may soon be buying an 96-97 b3, what are you paying for the engine?

            Oh and no to the tank/fuel pump, and if its just the head I don't think you'll have any problems but 96-97 aspires use I believe a camshaft instead of a crankshaft or some such, as well as obd 2, so unless you plan on replacing the bottom half and the wirelloom too, I would skip the ecu because its obd2 abd has different plugins for more sensors, and some other differencres I believe

              no need on the tank. thats a carb to FI conversion deal.
