  • What is more cost effective. B6t or Bp-t

Since this is my first thread I would like to give a little background about myself. I'm 16 and currently a junior in high school from Vallejo, Ca (45 minutes from SF). I am currently in the market for my first Festiva :blob2: My money comes from doing yardwork and I now have enough to buy a Festiva.

Now for the question. What engine B6t or BP then turbo later would be the most cost effective way of building a 13.5-14.5 second festiva?

So far my conclusion is the B6T since it is turbo'ed from factory and all the turbo components are already there if I buy a donor car.

I have used the search function a lot and cannot find a guide of adding a turbo to the BP. I want to go for the BP since finding one will be easier but what scares me is gathering everything required to turbo it.

My goal is to have turbo festiva with the aspire brake swap, coilover suspension, wheels, tires and paint for under $2500. Please don't think I am just a retarded 16 year old I think I am capable of doing this.

The picture is my car that I crashed, repaired, and painted and the other is my logo.

if you do the b6t swap your gonna have a very quick festy right away... but it is a bigger swap (more wiring)

if you swap the bp its an eaiser swap and its still a quick swap but not as quick as the b6t... when it comes time to turbo it you can just swap the ecu's and add a gtx or gtr turbo manifold on it and do the IC piping and your done... its not that much extra work and it will have more power than the b6t...

it all depends how good you are at working on cars... if you dont know much about turboing cars then i would wait and do alot of reading in the time....

    BTW... i LOVE the logo

Thanks for the logo comment. I like cows, thats why im going to name my Festiva MooStiva.

Hmm now im leaning towards the BP because the manifold was the part worrying me. You make it sound so simple. I try to read everything I can find about cars. My dads friend is a Mega Pro mechanic and he already agreed to help me, but I want to try to do the most I can myself.

BP....drive it for a while and then when ready....rear turbo it! Eurotiva has done it to several cars and has great times with it.

When I get the money this is the way I am going unless I fall into a car that is already done.

Sounds like we may have a race to turbo BP Festiva. My goal is February 26 (my birthday). Rear turbo sounds a bit extreme for my knowledge..:pale:

not from what I have seen. Much easier looking then regular. No intake to swap....no need to try and make room under the hood for everything....look up eurotiva....he has all kinds of info on it.

I have a rear-turbo Festy done by Greg (eurotiva) and am very happy with it. His car is a BP that he rear-turboed.

may be easy enough to remove when it needs to be inspected...would have to ask Greg about that though.

"Legally" lol. Ya I was thinking it could just be removed but then when I put it back on im sure a highway patrol would be like "wtf is that hanging back there"and lead to trouble. Damn, I was pretty excited about this. So would a B6T be the only smog legal swap since it was turbo'ed from factory?

it is hidden up under the car...you do not see it hanging down.

front turbo is fairly easy if you get a good way to route the piping...

I have a BP auto and its pretty quick, if you choose to do the BPT swap than make sure you get a G25MR tranny swap too, that engine with turbo will pop that stock tranny as we all know. Yvan has a BPT with a stock auto tranny, he just had to do some mods to it..something i want to do when i get a turbo for mine.
