  • Is the oil pressure switch on the Capri different than the Festiva one?

I think I have the Festiva one and it won't clear the oil cooler thing on the back of the motor. Am I screwing it into the right location or do I just don't have the right one?

    Ditch the oil cooler.

I think the senders are different anyway.

I don't have the stock festiva oil fitting thing. Do you have one laying around?

Oil fitting? Are you talking about ditching the cooler or using the sender?

The senders should be physically about the same. The oil cooler just comes off like a filter and you run your filter in its place.

I think the senders run on opposite resistance scales or something. I run the capri one and instead of the oil light being on for a split second on startup and then always being off its the opposite, its off for a split second and then stays on. For some reason I didnt switch them around...

I thought the piece that the filter screws onto ends up too long if you remove that though?

I think it might be, you might have to replace it with the shorter one from a nonturbo engine.

Actually you should be able to loosen the inner nut that holds the cooler in place, and rotate/clock the cooler out of the way of the oil pressure sensor

              oil psi switch

go buy one for a bp 1.8 it will cost you $16 compared to $100 or more for the capri one thats what I did on my 1.6 swap.
