Has anyone considered or actually built a 3rd gen Shogun. The V8 was a tough engine and had a really nice sound and decent power. I was daydreaming and thought if I build a widebody why not a V8 Festy.
I know the aftermarket was pretty limited. My son had 4 1st and 2nd gen SHO's and we took head gaskets out of all of them. Gasket sets are like $450.00. The V8 sounded great, my nephew had one that he put over 200,000 on. It would still be a 2000 pound car and be a ball, and sound awesome.
I also heard the V8's down put out much more HP then the V6's and the added weight almost cancels out the added power
235hp v8 stock vs 220hp v6 stock.
A mtx gen1-2 will eat gen3s all day long , the auto tranny kills everything.
Since im in that process , I highly doupt you will achieve anything close to 2000 pounds with that v8 , even if it has an alu block.
Plus if you are doing a rebuild , you will shell out alot more in gaskets with the v8 then the v6. With several rebuilds under my belt , a full out rebuild of the v6 is around 1k with gaskets and all sensors replaced.
