  • 3rd gen SHO Shogun?

Has anyone considered or actually built a 3rd gen Shogun. The V8 was a tough engine and had a really nice sound and decent power. I was daydreaming and thought if I build a widebody why not a V8 Festy.

Tough? Make sure the cams are welded.

The V8 sho is very limited in the performance add-ons. Plus it only came with an autotragic.

In our sho world , only a couple of cars managed to get a MTX on them V8s , Its really a PITA to convert.

I also heard the V8's down put out much more HP then the V6's and the added weight almost cancels out the added power

        1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
        1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I know the aftermarket was pretty limited. My son had 4 1st and 2nd gen SHO's and we took head gaskets out of all of them. Gasket sets are like $450.00. The V8 sounded great, my nephew had one that he put over 200,000 on. It would still be a 2000 pound car and be a ball, and sound awesome.

            235hp v8 stock vs 220hp v6 stock.

A mtx gen1-2 will eat gen3s all day long , the auto tranny kills everything.

Since im in that process , I highly doupt you will achieve anything close to 2000 pounds with that v8 , even if it has an alu block.

Plus if you are doing a rebuild , you will shell out alot more in gaskets with the v8 then the v6. With several rebuilds under my belt , a full out rebuild of the v6 is around 1k with gaskets and all sensors replaced.

Plus the v8 is a ford built engine , not yamaha.

In my book , it sounds better but it ends there.

If you want to do it for the cool factor, go right ahead. Its not like it'll be slow by any means. It sure would be a unique swap.

From what I remember, Yamaha did the heads, not the bottom end. That was still Ford Germany.

The v8 was based on a Volvo unit.
