G25MR quest

These cars came with the G25MR,but are the case's different then lets say a EGT? .Basically can we use them in a festy/aspire? I'm assuming they use a slave cyl Hyd clutch. But other than that. Can I look at these cars for a donor 5 speed? Also assuming I need the short shaft from the Capri.I'm just trying to find a larger "pool" of cars for donors. Thanks-

The 2003 G15MR will have the most recent shift fork and selector hub revisions compared to previous versions, so this is the best one out of them.

Wait wait wait..your saying that a standard transmission out of a 2.0L mazda 626 will bolt up to a b3? And work? I mean if it bolts to a b6 and a b6 bolts to a stock 5speed............. So the cd4e auto transmission I have in my 99 626 would also bolt up to a B3 block? I dunno man...i dunno... There's a good 99 626 motor in the JY, are you saying i could drop that in my aspire and it would bolt in except for engine mounts?

No bueno hombre.

Anything that didnt come with a B-series runs a different bellhousing and will not bolt up.

The trans ARE g-series, but the housing castings are completely off and setup to run the KL/FE engine patterns.

The ONLY cars with trans that will work in a festiva and are G-series are:

1.8L equipped Kia Sephia, possibly the smaller 1.6L equipped Rio?
1990-1994 Mazda Protege LX
1991-1995 Ford Escort GT
1991-1995 Ford Escort LX-E
1991-1995 Mercury Tracer LTS
1991-1992 Mercury Capri XR2
1988-1989 Mazda 323GT

There are others that use the F-series trans such as the SOHC protege's (DX) and the non-XR2 capri's, they are usable transmission, they just wont hold up to quite as much abuse as the G-series will.

The kia's may be the best bet at G-series trans in the future, considering even after they stopped using mazda engines they continued to use the g-series transmission until they stopped using the Hyundai 1.8L (which looks a damn lot like a mazda BP, but isnt).

Ok Thanks I knew it was to good to be true. But at least if you have a good trans case.You good use the internals from one of the fore mentioned newer vehicles correct?

I know, I was really disappointed with this mazda, it does ok I guess, good enough for a kid hauler anyway. Woulda been sweet tho if it was that easy to swap in my aspire tho lol, I bet I could get that 2.0 out of the junk yard for dirt cheap, it's only been sitting about 4 or 5 months.

kia sephia I guess? which years? are they 100% compatible with B engines? I might be shopping for a tranny so a fresh kia looks like a great option

This is what you need to use the Kia 96-97 tranny

1) Kia Axels.
2) Kia, Protege DOHC or 89 GTX (B6T Turbo engine) flywheel. They all use the same clutch. The Kia flywheel is heavier, the GTX is lighter.
3) Kia throw out bearing
3) Kia Slave Cylinder
4) Kia tranny mounts bases. All three. You can use the Mazda mounts they are same as the Kia.

They are Hydro-but its fairly easy to make a bracket to convert to cable. See Damkids. Thats what I'm doing with my G series. (I found a Gm25r hydro)

Found a Tranny

Is it safe to assume that if my G series is Hydro.It therefore will be equiped with 3.55 gears? This is what I gather from the tranny stickies....Thanks-

Mfactory Diff

Ok here's my next thought. I would like to run this diff with my Bp/G series swap.
Are the 02 Kia Rio axles's 23 7/8's" and 34 5/8's" and are they 26/24 spline count?
If the outboard spline count is not 24 on the kia axle .Couldn't I transfer a 24 tripod onto the Kia axle?
