Intriguing! I've been thinking about building a B3D out of my Miata motor and one of the spare B3s. Just have too many other projects that need doing before that happens. I don't think the stock B3 would like the SUPER short gearing in the Miata (around 4k at like 55mph in fourth!). But with the twin cam head it might enjoying revving out a bit more. Doubt it will work but I'm gonna do some testing when I have the motor apart hopefully maybe this spring lol.No festiva for me ATM...

The major problem he'll run into, is that the CAS simply provides a signal, and has no vacuum advance/retard for the timing. Nor will it have the RPM based advance using the centrifugal weights - he's going to be stuck at one exact point of ignition timing. This isn't good. The Miata ECU automatically calculates all this, and it sounds like he's sticking with a Festiva ECU, which isn't equipped to do so. Megasquirt would allow him to program timing maps correctly, but reading his posts it doesn't sound like he knows too much about it.
Best of luck to him, seems like a bit of an asinine project but I'd considered the swap into a Capri as well so I can't really say much1991 Mercury Capri XR2 "GTXR2" BPT Swapped AWD Conversion
