Rebuilding engines is a-lot tougher than most think, id personally buy a low km jdm b6ze for 600$ and call it a day.. maybe sell the trans/clutch/coils you could get the block and head for as little as 300$ all said and done.

Going to have parts installed by a machine shop in town as well as mill work, was just wondering if anyone had input on the rods and bearings. I don't know anything about the swap that you have done

for my block to be decked, rotating assembly balanced, connecting rod wrist pins sized, mains line bored for arp studs and assembled short block it cost $900 bucks (thats just labor!) i gave the machinist a full gasket set, main thrust bearings, rod bearings, CAT rods, boundary engineering oil pump, arp main studs, arp head studs, weisco pistons. now this stuff is just for the short block! dont forget water pump timing belt, good head gasket ect. where does it end!

You will blow up a tranny before you blow the stock motor.

I had my machine shop polish my crank, hone the block, 3 angle valve job, new seals installed, for 425 i think? Then i assembled the motor myself. Saved $400 on labor by doing it myself.

I can put studs on and gaskets, I will not ever pay a shop for that, but more like what mental had done, things that require much finer machinery that I have in my garage

just a fyi when installing main studs ARP recommends line boring the mains due to increased torque over stock bolts can cause mains to be out of round

I could have probably put the motor together my self but when i look how much i have into it, i rather leave it to the pro's i look at it more as a investment, and if something is wrong i can point the finger at someone else. just my .02
