  • Remote Oil Filter Kit $19.50

This is on sale at Summit.

    Spectre brand, part number SPE-5971.

I ordered one and it should be here by 5-31.

This kit also has a hose that can be attached at the oil pan drain plug, and 12 volt transfer pump for draining the oil. I have no intention of using the remote drain tube. The 12v pump will be a cool toy.

The price can't be beat for a spin on adapter, and remote mount for a filter though. This comes with universal fittings, it looks like it would fit a BP, B6, and the B3.

My filter is going to go in the stock Festiva battery location. Other options would be right side tucked in front of the front fender. Or maybe behind the grill.

Let us know how it works out, i.e. if it actually does fit B3s, and where you ended up locating it.

Here's confirmation that it will fit the B3.

I can promise that it will fit all Mazda, all Ford, and all Suzuki/Geo motors.

      Quality looks good.

The orifice inside the filter head is about 3/16" by 3/8", it looks sorta small to me, but maybe not.

It came with 8' of black rubber, 300 psi, hose. I'll be using the SS braided/teflon hose w/ ansi fiitings. It won't be mounted for weeks. I'm going to do a custom grill on the Festiva, that includes a tow bar, remote oil filter, and quad round headlights. (((no really))).

$19.50 delivered is a low price. It came with a bunch of extras. I'd show a pic but my batteries went dead in the Canon

I think billet means 'machined from a block of material'.

These appear to be casted/machined from aluminum alloy. They're similar to the more expensive remote filter units by Transadapt and Permacool.

I used to use a Mecca remote oil filter. Simple and quick to change a filter. No, they did not come polished out of the box. I did that myself.
If you are going to put in a remote oil filter, you might as well install a remote fuel filter too!

I may be a little stuborn but it's not like the Festy oil filter is hard to get to, it's not.

To me it looks like about 6 new places to leak... Just sayin'

I reserve these items for those hard to get filters.

Now if they have a remote oil pan drain plug... That would be convienient!

I'm using a remote filter for increased capacity, filter area, and cooling. I'll be using a Wix 51773 one quart filter.

The Festiva filter is a PITA to change, IMHO.

This thing does come with a remote drain hose and electric pump. No way will
I hang a rubber hose from the bottom of my oil pan, though.

They don't leak, I've ran them for years.

Hmmm, I may look into this mod. I hate removing the filter since it leaks all over the lower block and CV shaft. A remote filter location could be designed for easier containment of that spilled oil, right?

Also, are there any guidelines for placement above or below the original mounting location?

                      Absolutely.

A vertical install will eliminate the oil spill. That what I'll strive for on this install.

The remotes are typically installed above the original location. They say the anti-siphon flap in the filters prevent an air bubble in the lines. A higher mount will allow all the used oil to drain when the filter is removed.

On start up, the engine oil pump will pressurize the passages like normal, and then the oil will fill the air gap in the lines.

The mount on my Sammy is low and horizontal. I get the oil spill when I take the filter off. A small amount of used oil stays behind in the lines on this install. Sammy loved the increased capacity, though. I'm a Samurai Whisperer.

                          ^LOL!

If going to the "trouble" of installing a remote oil filter, you're only two longer hoses away from fitting an oil cooler too..

^ I was wondering how I would get that to work with my stock BP oil cooler, maybe just install the cooler on the filter and have 4 hoses there. Probably wouldn't be hard at all.

Install the cooler behind the adapter plate for the remote filter kit, so it's on the block. You could install it either place, but near the block means shorter lines, less clutter, etc.
