  • Intermediate Shaft help...

    I am in the process of getting a manual tranny from a 91 festiva to put into my 92 auto festiva and im just double checking that i need to get the intermediate shaft from a Capri XR2 or from a 323GT if i am doing a BP swap. Thanks in advanced!
    91' Festiva GL Auto EFI--- BP swapped, G-Series swap in the works.
    Adjustable VW MK2 front suspension and Aspire disc brakes
    Aspire rear axle and drum swapped with adjustable KYB rear suspension

    It doesn't matter what engine your running, your axles depend on the tranny

      E-series trans use stock festiva axles, no intermediate shaft.
      1989 Carby L: Stock. Slow.

        Alright so i just need axles (intermediate and CV) from a festiva? Does the year matter? And i thought i read somewhere in a swap guide that i would need the intermediate from a 323 or XR2 if i was doing a BP swap, do you know what that might of been about?

          ^^ That is only if you are using a G series (turbo capri/323 or Escort GT) transmission. If you are using a festiva manual transmission then you can use axles from any year manual festiva. Be careful with the festiva trans mated to a BP though, a few good launches can break them.
          No festiva for me ATM...

            Its easy, what tranny are you using? Use the matching axles to the tranny

            IE if you are using a BP on the stock trans, use the stock axles

              Ok sounds good thanks for the help!
              And yea, i dont plan on doing to many crazy launches. The swap is just to tide me over until i leave for basic training in the USMC and then once im back ill have more $$ and i believe im gonna do a G25? i think it is into it. but while im gone my friends are gonna work on the suspension and exterior/interior work. i also hope to have a break swap done before i leave. but thanks for the help guys heres a link to my build thread if your interested: http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=43954

                I've been running a Kia BP with a stock E-series and a stage 2+ SPEC clutch for 2 years and ~30,000 miles. As long as you avoid wheel hop and power shifting you shouldn't have much of an issue.

                      I'm guessing you meant Protege DX? That is an F series box.

                        Prelude parts in a Festiva. There's probably laws against that in North Carolina! Yep, I meant Protege.

                          If I understand correctly, axles from an OEM auto Festy are not the same as driveaxles from an OEM manual car. I'm guessing that your swap (auto to manual) is therefore going to require the axles to suit.
