  • Grassroots SHOgun parts list

I am wanting to do a grassroots SHOgun. I am new to the whole engine swap thing. I just want to know right now what is a good parts list i need to get to have everything for the swap.

It's not really a swap per say. It's an involved conversion. What you're asking is "What do I need to build a MR pocket rocket out of a Festiva?"

To make it WAY too simple for anyone's own good, you need 2 things. A Festiva and a Taurus SHO. Beyond that is on you.

Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

If you have to ask how to merge two cars into one, then it's easily out of your skill range

      Start with a simpler project

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I'd read through these two threads to get an idea of how involved the project is/what is needed to do the swap.

^^ What these guys have said, it's so far beyond a "swap" you have to more or less build from scratch the entire rear suspension for the car

That said I think a GRM challenge SHOGUN would be super sick, but also a challenge to keep within the budget

I'll say it again, I'd like to see someone do a KL V6 in mid-rear fashion, might fit/mesh better with the Festy than the SHO motor too

Every time Chris puts it in reverse, he already has that setup. :evil4:

Hahaha I've actually thought about doing twin engine KL's

                1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
                1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

there was a a metro shogun built for the lemons challenge a couple years back. it looked ok but it was hacked together.

                  cheap swap

you better off swapping in a bpt or b6t can be just as fast if not faster.

You need a taurus sho donor as a whole , or it will miss too much parts .

Prepare to spend. This is not your typical 2k$ swap.

There was another grassroots shogun made with a budget , its fugly but it works.

If budget was an issue, I would find a Taurus with the 3.0L DOHC V6 Duratec. Much more available and you still get 200hp. A V6 Probe or MX6 may be good as well.
