  • Escort Carb adapter plate.

I finished up the carb adapter to install a 1981 Escort 1.6L carb onto a 88-89 Festiva. I started with a generic weber install kit and expoxed and re drilled two of the stud holes on the upper plate (the Escort carb has a slightly longer flange). I originally was going to modify the lower plate as well, but the one I bought was not wide enuf. I purchased a piece of 3/8'' alum, drilled, tapped and generally removed everything that did not look like a carb adapter at school today. It all mounts and bolts together well. I wish I had better pics, but I assembled the piece at school and forgot to remove the allen head fastners.

Bolt on your adapter. You may have to get another piece of aluminum to make a plate to bolt on top of the valve cover to reposition the throttle cable bracket a little higher, farther over the edge and towards the right. I made a bracket for my twin carbs. the extra meat was for an additional stud to hold down the air cleaner snorkle.

              Looks good Kingfish!

I'm going to put a Holley/Weber 32/36 on Festus some day. I should go ahead and make the bottom plate like yours, while I'm still at a metal fab shop.

That really looks good. I'm getting ready to put an Escort carb on mine now. I'm taking the Rocketman adapter approach this time. I've got a Weber now and I want to compare them. The Escort carb seems to be put together better. Hope your car runs good! You won't believe the increase in power.
