If jetted properly, can a Holley 6520 be used instead of a Weber 32/36 ?? If they can, Allstate Carburetors is having a sale on them, 11/24 thru 11/30. $52 + S&H.

I would stay away from that carb. There are too many unknowns. It's for a 2.2L engine so the jets are definately too big and would need replaced if available. The throttle butterfly shaft size is not known for sure unlike the 1.6L Escort which is known to be the same size as the Festiva carb. The choke shaft is parallel to the throttle shaft putting the choke assembly either to the front or the back and may cause clearance problems for the cable type throttle linkage you will need The carb appears to only have throttle linkage on one side which is on the opposite side from the fuel inlet. So one way or the other, either the throttle linkage will be wrong or the fuel inlet will be. This would just add to additional unnecessay changes which you wouldn't have with the Escort/Weber carb.You gonna race that thing?

How suitable for an early B6 installation would this reman Weber be? I have future plans to get another carbed Festiva if the stock carb can be eliminated from the equation. I want one car with NO computer controls at all!
Yea or nay?
If "yea" what would need fabbed? I'm assuming the adapter plate and linkage, minimum, onto a B3 intake on an early B6.

The Holley 6520 looks like the one we put on the 88. Used it as it came, except for the electric solenoid, on an adaptor. The electric choke quit after a while so we converted it to a manual. It's getting 36 mpg with the 4 spd, now changing to a 5spd , will see if that helps any. The spark plug color looks decent.

You can use an adapter to fit the B3 or B6, but I prefer to fill in 3 of the 4 old mounting holes and build up the corners of the mounting location with aluminum weld. Then resurface the carb mounting face of the intake and drill and tap holes for the Weber/Escort carb mounting. It's been a while since I did a B6, but I think the half circle cable linkage from the Festiva carb is a direct bolt on to the Escort. The cable mounting bracket may or may not be a direct bolt on to the B6 valve cover. I've carbed every B series engine with the Escort carb except the B3 and the DOHC's and some required some fabrication to the cable mounting bracket including drilling new holes in the valve cover.
If you use the Escort carb, the Escort air cleaner will fit and clear under the hood, but you will need to cut a short piece off the "snout" because it goes almost tight against the radiator support crossmember. You can probably get one of those by doing a WTB on the Escort forum. The air cleaner is HUGE. Here's a pic of it:
