  • Any interest in a comprehensive wiring harness clean up and install thread?

I'm doing a complete harness tear down and reassembly in the BP car. I will be willing to take lots of photos and step-by-step a lot of the work.

The MAF Kia setup is THE WAY TO GO. I figure I can Layman's Terms the harness in-out enough to make it useful.

I think a well document procedure/process on anything would be useful.

And definitely something as complicated as a wiring harness would be very helpful.

I see article written all over this one!

Yea man ANY more info on wiring would be a good deal here. I could have used your brain this week with my car, and I still don't know if my car will fire up or not, we'll see soon enough though. Are you working with a FI or carb Festy?

Carb-to-EFI conversion. Check my garage thread to see how to swap a harness the EASY way

PS - I need a decent photo of your rear trans mount STAT.

I am going to do something that will make the non-EFI guys vomit and convulse: razor-blade the ENTIRE harness loom and trim as needed. Agruably (since my car ran) you could stuff it in and be done. However, having something that fits super flush and tight is such a bonus.

Be descriptive of the video that you want. I will run it and show details as needed. Anything in particular?

I was just thinking that a video really clears things up if you were to do a full video on it.

There's a reason why I don't do write ups, it's cause there will always be idiots who don't know how to read and you end up being the first person to hear all the stupid questions to which you gave the info for in the first place

Not trying to discourage a good write up, just my point of view, I mean look at how many threads there are asking about info posted in stickies.....

                      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

While I agree that the straight nOObs are going to make Andes of things, I see the value in hard lessons.

I am going to disassemble the harness (OBVIOUSLY going a bit overboard) to display how easy it really is. Not everyone is gonna be doing the bulkhead connector setup like me, but knowing how a harness is routed and how to go A to B to C etc. makes life so much easier.

Are you talking bulkhead ie "Cannon Plugs" http://compare.ebay.com/like/3104205...Types&var=sbar these are used exclusively in aviation and so sweet. They are easy if all your wires are the same gauge. But can be a little more work if you have to run different gauge wires, like a starter relay wire. I believe I still have my tool for "de pinning" these guys. I'm almost certain I saw a write up where someone converted to these on this forum. But I love schematics wires etc so post away SVO. Is this an Aspire or Festy that you are doing?
Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

I would like to see the process. Did you say it will include the MAF wiring?
