does anyone know if 01 rio axles will work in my 93 festiva?

No not with out a g series trans
if you have a stock trans than you have a e series trans

Not only that but I suspect that Rio axles are longer. Certainly the driveaxles out of Aspires have the correct spline count but darned if they're overall just a little bit too long.

If your Festiva is an automatic, the axles will work.

          Rio axles fit...

          Festiva auto transmissions.
          G series transmissions.
          and of course, Rio transmissions.

Keep in mind that Rio axles are larger in diameter. You probably don't need to, but I would swap both.

Geo, you might want to grab the Steering knuckles with calipers, rotors, and hoses, Front struts with springs and mounts. Even if you don't plan to upgrade the suspension right now, you can save them for a later time when/if you decide to.

              Take the gearbox!!!
Swap it in with brakes, and driveshafts.
Easy job and a huge improvement.

You'll need aspire LCA's to adapt to the longer drive shafts.

                That's a good idea.

BTW, you can use Festiva LCAs (I'm using them). The fit is tighter than stock, but works just fine.

A Rio 5 speed fits like it came from the factory. Just make some minor cross member mods.

A Rio automatic will physically bolt on, but it's electronically controlled. If you can figure out how to control it, it would make a good swap. No one has done it yet.

Grab that transmission! Don't forget the mounts, flywheel, starter and the block plate (between the trans and engine). The shift linkage too.

Yeah. The first gen Rio uses an f/g series hybrid box. Bigger than an f. Not quite a g.
                              Cable clutch too
