It's been discussed before. Unless you want to get fancy with adapters and custom axles and parts (and possible frame clearancing), nothing just bolts on.
Someone once mentioned Mazda 3, but I've heard no more about it.

^ Oh ya, it's wider and beefier than a G series. Here's a pic of one:
That looks like a crazy amount of work (and $$$) just for one more gear.
You can keep it.

Zanzer, if i measured correctly, it's shorter than the F/G series trans from input shaft to back plate... and it runs tripple layshafts (more power capacity and smaller package). it also appears that there's enough meat in the bell housing to allow for mods to bolt to B series engines. the other option is the F40 trans from the Pontiac G6/Saab 93. and there are newer 6 spd trans in smaller cars within the past 2 years as well.
jason_, the final drive in the 4 and 5 spd festy transmissions are the same (first gen E series), so theres no piont in swapping internals arround.
It may be shorter but it's wider so clearances between the firewall and radiator may be tight, kind of like an auto Festy but I'm thinking worse. As for cutting on the bellhousing, even a damaged Speed3 gearbox is $600 so I'll let you pioneer that swap Arty LOL
If a hammer doesn't fix it you have an electrical problem
oh great, thanks!!! lol I'll get right on that. i know that the Fusion uses a 6spd manual as well (should be the same unit), it may be cheaper because it's not behind a turbo engine. turbos make things more exspensive for some reason.

currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.
^^ It may be more expensive due to the Torsen LSD that comes in it from the factory. Or maybe just the name Mazdaspeed attached to the part...probably both LOL

What is more important, 6 speeds or dropping 5th gear another 400 rpm on the highway in 5th with 1-4 the same? you dont hear about it much but people are figuring out custom gears and quietly fitting them into street cars. I found a page where some guy took a zx2 2nd gear rewelded it backwards and it became a 50% rpm drop from 4th gear. It ate itself up but he did good research on this.
1993 GL 5 speed
It's a MazdaFordnKia thing, and you will understand!
