  • 1.3L Weber 5-speed MPGs/other questions.

Just a few questions before I hit the 'buy-it-now' button on a Suzuki Samurai Weber carb kit..

Having A/C in the car, do I need to keep the EGR hooked up/will the current EGR plate fit the weber?

The dizzy is the only vacuum I'll have to keep, right? Everything else can be plugged/done away with?

    .. and finally.

5-speed MPG? I got 39.4 when I filled yesterday, 285.6mi (adjusted for 155/80-13 tires) on 7.248 gallons. Will I still get 38+ driven sanely, or will it be closer to the 35 range? Seems the only weber MPG data I can find is with a 4-speed, which doesn't help me too much.

    Thank you!

    -Joe

If I keep my foot out of it and stay mostly on the highway, I can get 39. More realistically though I drive in the city a lot. In that case it does more like 34 - 35. That's with a B6. I was able to use the original throttle linkage from the old carb and re install the idle up solenoid. (straighten out the bracket) Helps with drive ability when air is on. My opinion is that they run best with the two vacuum ports on the disty Yed together and going to the vacuum port on the bottom of the Weber. Gives a little more vacuum advance. Been running mine like this for about a year now and it is my daily driver. Runs great. Hope that helps! Don't see why you would need the EGR, but it's not hurting anything.

Of course if you keep the idle up solenoid those vacuum lines and devices will have to stay.

Eh, I was watching YouTube videos on weber install. The EGR thing was just something mentioned along with A/C.

Thanks, Zoe. Very helpful. I'll just go ahead and buy it and deal with whatever comes haha.

If you keep your foot out if it, and go a little leaner than stock on the primary main jet and the emulsion tube, you should get better MPGs. I would get a range of jets, from 125 to 135 (they are in increments of 5), and do the same for the emulsion tubes, to find what works best for you. You really only need to do the primary side, since that is where you will be cruising without opening up the secondary.

I still get around 40mpg's with mine with a b3 and 4speed just changed to a 5speed i'm sure it'll get over 40mpg's now. I do drive the interstate a lot more than in town. the webber is a night and day difference on the stock b3

                Ooh.. one last question.

With all the emissions stuff gone, will the Check Engine Light be on permanetly?

                Just remove the bulb?

Maybe just unplug the computer. But yeah, pulling the bulb will work too.
