I feel like a traitor but the more I learn about all of these donors and find a good one it would become so much harder to junk them just for drivetrains. the exception is the Ford Aspire of course I've already owned two. those are brake swaps.

It's a MazdaFordnKia thing, and you will understand!

I had this problem with my first XR2 that was supposed to be a donor car. 3 years later It's still one of my DD cars.

With the right injectors and VAF (that has been calibrated properly) you should be able to run a b6-me on stock Festiva ECU. Dragonhealer has a b6d running on a stock ECU and it runs awesome. He used Miata injectors and made an adapter plate out of sheet metal for the festiva distributor. He had to extend the idle control valve wires like 8 inches (for the capri manifold). If the stock ECU will run a B6d, it should be fine for a b6-me, since a b6-me VE curve is a closer match than the DOHC engine.
Basically, DO IT!!! Cheap low mileage engine that makes 50% more TQ with very minimal effort, sounds like a helluva deal to me.

Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.

The me engines have decent midrange and max out lower rpms, left alone they are better engines for a simple swap. I also have not seen a b6d or BP's with over 300,000 miles and I have seen a lot of base model proteges.

If you are mounting this to a 5 speed transmission you will need to by a flywheel to replace the flexplate.
88L - Awaiting bigger and better things
92L - Dead and needs love - was DD
          91 - Shell with title
92GL - receiving B8 Swap and will be DD

If you are using that motor with the stock festiva trans (which I probably would) then you would just reuse the festiva flywheel/clutch/pressure plate/starter. Within the B series motors you always use the flywheel combo that matches the trans you are using, they all bolt up.
            No festiva for me ATM...
