Smokey Yunick was "the" mother of invention when it came to circumventing rules. When rules came out to forbid removing material to polish the inside of heads and intake manifolds hot dog the following year he was 'caught' with a winning car that had beautifully polished parts but that had been lined with a type of paint first. Strictly speaking he hadn't removed factory material at all in order to smooth the runners! So more new rules came out but he always came out on top.
so if I have it right then y cant u take an unmodified oem tank from any car and make brackets and mount inside car. doesn't matter what from its unmodified tank
.
Joking aside there were several fox models such as the t-bird and lsc mark vii that were a lot bigger than my mustangs's tank, over 20G. If they are attached the same way with the really lame but effective straps design then that is awesome.
the 2 and 4 door tanks are the same size (give or take a few tenths), but they will NOT bolt in place due to a change in inlet position (2 doors are on the side of the tank, 4 doors are at the rear of the tank).
They wont let you run a Generic fuel cell from Summit Racing?
Well, sorta. You can, but there are a lot of extra regulations required to make it work. What's more, there are rule changes in the works and these types of cells my be banned all together very soon. They really want FIA cells with bladders unfortunately.
I did see the toyota hilux tank was square and width looked good, however, length and height was a little questionable.. perhaps you could measure and modify to fit.

Definitely will look into this
Sadly that's not a LeMons legal tank Thanks though!
I looooove this idea. This will be my first stop. Thanks man!
Ok thanks for the clarification, sounds like you might end up having to get the Bladder Cell within the next couple of years huh?
Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know- Henry Ford: "Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently" Fuseable Link Distribution Block repair link
I just thought of this can u use some kinda small tanks in the rear quarter panels like reserve tanks and then pump the fue;l fromone tank to thae main one when it runs low or hide a tank under dash or something
With gusto I read through this thread after taking a hiatus from racing and my Festiva. No aux tanks can be used in conjunction with the OEM tank for Lemons. Swapping In a good solid unmodified OEM tank is the only option. I would love to hear how you are doing on this research. We can go only 2 hrs before a fillup from the tiny Festiva tank. I like the idea of the fuel cell and placing the weight further forward but the cost has stopped us as well.
We will be racing March 1 at ECR.
If the only tool you have is a hammer, then every job looks like a nail.
welp only other option is a nascar filler neck and gas jug that's all u can do or a stupid expensive fuel cell.but the aux tanks aren't there if they cant be found.lol
