Just to make a correction the trackers are full frame but with ifs and an 86.6" wheelbase a cj is probably the better option and 88-91 bronco iis weren't bad they had a slight head redesign I had an 88 bronco iI I drove with no antifreeze for 2miles after blowing a freeze plug one morning with no issues and an 88 2.9 ranger that blew a radiator hose 6 miles from school and I drove it in and just put a radiator hose on it and it is still going as far as I know

Sounds like the CJ is your best bet. Good luck finding even a beater for less than 2k!

Yea cj7 is my #1 on my list to do this if I find an old farmer to sell me his if I can't then bronco or 70s highboy cuz I know I can get them dirt cheep here,

I don't like the 2.9 not cuz the motor it self its all the stock fuel sestem that works with it is crap from my experence but will fit in the festy body easier then any v8 which will be fun but a bigger project

A thought. Why not build you own ladder frame under the Festiva shell and bolt on the suspension and drivetrain you want? You'll probably end up doing just as much work to transfer the whole shell onto another frame it's not meant for, and probably more expense to find a driveable donor 4x4.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

I thought about that but if you did that you would have to be super accerate on putting suspenshion mounts, tranny/transfer case/motor mounts, all the stearing so it would be more and why remake the wheel when I can get it already assembled and lined up, pluss buying the whole drive trane. So it would be a lot more I would think.. but I do agree with you it would be cool but at my expeareance lever I know I wouldn't finish

Samurai would be the closest size wise, and they have solid axles front and rear with full frame, unlike the sidekick/tracker which has IFS..

I agree, definitely fit it to a Suzuki Samurai frame. The Samurai IS the Festiva of the 4X4 world.

I know how to use the search function, I just don't always choose to use it. New modifications, solutions, and information are discovered every day and I want to know what the current concensus is for whatever topic I have in mind. Thank you for understanding this!

Samurai has much shorter wheelbase than a feativa IIRC

But when I find one ill snag it up and start but is a lot of planning in advance! But I'm not looking foward to a project that would require several skilled helpers to do cuz my bp swap I did 100% by my self and that was a chalange haha, I have a 64 international pickup nott 4x4, a 89 f150 not 4x4 and a 99 dodge carvan not 4x4 lol but any members in nebraska wanting to help by all means pm me! Found a 4x4 ?f250 I think? 70s highboy for $400 runs and drives all tires are flat and at a farm of some guy I work with! Also I talked to a fue guys at jiffylube where I work and explaned what I was looking for and they were soo confused how it would work but I explaned it and they might help with the build! Also my boss owned a 91 red festy auto and loved it and I showed him my festy and fell in love with mine lol but what happened today at work was found a truck, found a previous festy lover, and recruted help for my build, and hopefully recruted a festy owner!

Its looking more and more likely for the project to be a go!!! Hopefully start january after christmass

Also the managers at jiffylube have never had a festy there.. thought it was insane to slap a EGT in a festy...... and my festy has as much hp as my friends 99 "mint" condition muntang... its been a verry educating day can't weight for ideas for this 4x4 project tomorrow!!

Jeep YJ front leaf springs will push the front tires forward a little bit.
