  • SOHC B6 bolt up to the festiva B3 stock tranny?

Ive got a 89 festiva with just the stock manual 5spped in it. I've found a 1.6L motor out of a 323..unsure if its SOHC or DOHC, i havent yet taken a look at it.. but i was wondering if the SOHC 1.6L will bolt up to the stock tranny? Or if the DOHC 1.6L does or not?

Yes, all B Series motors will bolt to a stock transmission. You have to use the clutch , flywheel, and starter for the transmission. I.E. stock transmission would need the stock flywheel, clutch, and starter.

You are correct. Depending on the motor, you may have to change some of the wiring or ECU. The early B6 is the easiest from what I've been told.

It would be a good idea to get a new clutch, and get an Exedy clutch. If you keep the old clutch, the extra B6 power may make it slip. A new Exedy clutch will hold better/

Your Intake manifold will bolt right up to a 1989 B6, which is pretty handy. It's difficult to make an '89 Festy fuel injected unless you really know what you are doing. If your car was already fuel injected, you would want to get the ECU from the 323 as well. Good choice for a first swap. It is almost an exact image of the B3, except with more displacement. I love mine!

awesome. thanks. ..but would it be possible if i wired the different plug in harnesses from the old motor to the newer motor..like switch out the plug-in ends.. im sure they arent to different..but i guess i would have to figure it out myself.

Just use the Festy wiring. All you need for a B6 swap is the engine and Festy intake manifold as Zoe said

I've done this swap I used the b6 intake and carb with b3 air filter housing then used the b3 exhaust
                              Alternator engine mount and loom.
It's really easy except the vacuum lines
