I am interested for sure, BUT I surely would have to see a pricing estimate of the whole cost. I DO understand what "Estimate" means of course. I wonder what would be the best tranny to do. I am absolutely unfamiliar with any tranny, even the e, f, and g's (that sounds like e effing g's) lol. Sorry. I would venture to guess that the door would be open to just about any tranny right? Would the e153 still be best choice or even the mtx75? Nissan? how about some of the ecotech stuff?
I really don't know where to start.Last edited by Gomez; 03-05-2014, 05:56 PM.-Bryant

I mean it's kind of a tradeoff, compromises have to be made. You can't have a stronger trans & not expect it to be bigger. The G-Series makes very efficient use of space, packing gears into it, and that's the problem, they're small, thin gears.
FastivaB6TG25MR made a whole lot of power (BP/Gseries) and had frame issues before he had tranny issues. So maybe tackling both issues to fit a larger trans isn't a bad idea? Idk
none the less, I'll go measure one of the Jetta race tranys against the G series......No car too fast !

FE with an H series would be cool. Forum member fe3-323 has this in his 323 with a custom exhaust manifold for the turbo. You can stroke this motor with a crank swap and get a 2.2L. There was a cool discussion on our forum about this FE engine but I cant find it to make a link. But I know Charlie got excited about it,and thats good enough for me. IIRC the FE was originally a proven Diesel block that MAZDA put a free breathing DOHC Aluminum head on because the market was demanding DOHC engines in small trucks and cars in the 80's.(Forged Rods, larger crank journals & Piston Squirters are stock)Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. "You looked!, why did you have to look?!?!?, you always have to look!"
Darn it Gomez, you made me look!
I thought it would be "oh, OK, that won't fit" but NOOooooo, it MIGHT fit.....
OK, the MK5 2.0L turbo gas Jetta trans is shorter than a G type, it will fit 'tween the frame rails.
But it is BIG, and HEAVY, way heavier than the G type, and wider by inches.....BUT, if you can
mount the drive train ~2 inches further forward than Charlie did the B6T/G type in Tweek, then
in theory, it will fit.
Is this worth examining? You know when I mock up Carolyns Monster I'll have to try it....
Comments, questions? No car too fast !

I just looked at the entire F40 to KLZE swap and is pretty sweet. Just wonder how much something like that would cost. Anybody have a "solid" educated guess? Along with custom blended axles? I don't really have a budget but don't want it to take 10 years to build this car either. My goal was to stay under $20,000 for entire car including purchase but that is likely to change but I hope not lol. That way I will have "my" brand new car that "I" built performance oriented from the beginning, before I even step foot on the gas pedal, from the ground up for about the same price as the most popular non millionaire type new cars on the market. Sounds logical right. My wife's car was $22,000 but I bet mine will be waaaaaay cooler.Last edited by Gomez; 03-05-2014, 11:32 PM.-Bryant

Gomez, thank you!
And then Wow, hard to answer. Our wildest axles (Porsche,VW,Audi, and misc. parts)
come out at $300/axle after the core bits are sourced. The core gear box @ 40K Mi.from
a breakers yard is $800/1200. The LS is proprietary = $2800 (Festiva probably won't
need this at all) and fitting that diff to the box is about 9hrs plus some machine work.
Yet to be addressed is mating it to B series, and how to mount it, adapting in the VW
shift cables assy.
I'll get pics next trip to the shop at Inde.
The transaxle is quite robust, but will not tolerate speed shifting.
Weight as raced #3075, 300WHP, 365lb/ft torque.
Redline in 6th on 235/45-17 = 171MPH (Daytona was a blast!)No car too fast !

Jt (fastivab6tg26mr) broke 12 or so transmissions.
I broke 5 before
I made a fourth mount on mine and I haven't broken one since.
There's a Mazda dogbox available that's stronger than a g series.
Unless you plan on making 400+HP a g series will actually take a lot of abuse-Greg

So in your opinion Greg, do you think the 4th mount is actually worth doing? If so then I may consider adding one once I switch back to boost
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?
