Moz - you're right that the G will suffice in most normal cases, it can handle some pretty good power but in a high powered drag racing scenario, it's pretty weak... But for daily driving it's good enough lol

    1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Hence why I'm asking what he wants to do with it.

Drag? Yep. You'll need something serious if over 300hp or so.

This is going into a Festiva build with an ass crap load of horsepower that will be driven only on sunshiny days when all the Mustangs, Camaros, Vettes, Vipers, GT-R's, Lambos, Porches, and ANY other fast car in the area will also be on the roads. It will probably see a few days at the drag strip at the most (though I would like to make the best of it when I am there). I would love the possibility of some road course action but VERY unlikely. The only claim to fame I am looking for is the fact that I have a tranny that will let me sleep at night.

I slobber at the thought of driving down the interstate at 75 mph, and when I feel the need for some power, I slam a gear or 2 and the tires go up in smoke. MOSTLY I just want the car to be less likely to break down. Do it right the first time philosophy. The only right way to do it is the way that accomplishes all of the given goals.

        Mine are:
        1. It must be able to handle the power w/o breaking. 425+ hp goal
        2. It must fit within the frame rails with minimal modification. Within reason of course.
        3. It must be look simple or stock. I do not like a cluttered engine bay.

My engine bay might be full but it's sure not cluttered and very minimal mods to the body/frame, and I know a guy who made 400whp on a stock KLDE.... Just saying :p

I would love to see your car someday Chris.

Within the past hour I had a realization (thanks Charlie). I am going a little overboard. My goals are getting out of hand and have had to take a small step, not back, but rather to the side a little. A Festiva cannot put that kind of power to the ground given my overall goals for the car. I knew that but I guess I just needed to be told. Back to my "original" build estimate of 275-300 max hp is where I'm gonna head. With that my g series will once again be perfect AFTER I get my mFactory diff and case back from Ferdi. It has been a great conversation and I hope it can still be developed as someday someone will need to do this.

Once you drive one with a fully spooled turbo, you realize just how little power it takes to really accomplish your goals in such a lightweight chassis.

I was beginning to have the same concerns.
Glad you saw the light. I really can't see any reasonable return on investment because the knock on effect the bigger better box would create.
With 400hp you'll break the box.
Fix the box problem, you'll snap shafts.
Fix the shafts, you'll have no traction.
Fit 12"+ tyres on it, you've spent enough money to pay for a very decent powerful car.

And the whole point of the Festiva is that you can run circles around these cars at 1/10th the cost.

Most of the above mentioned car won't even look at a Festiva, much less race one. Ask me how I know...
