  • What to do with my BP?

Hi guys, I used to be on the site quite a bit years ago, I have a 93 with a BP swap that a buddy and I did with a craftsman ratchet set, I come-a-long for an engine hoist and a BFH. Anyways we did this swap about 6 years ago and now thanks to the Wisconsin winters the car is getting to be pretty worn out, and the motor is getting tired also. So what my question for all of you is, I plan on pulling the motor and and rebuilding it, getting rid of the car and finding a nicer one to re swap into. What I am wondering is should I just clean things up and freshen everything and put it back together, or do some other things as long as I'm inside of the motor. Also I've always thought about boosting it, but I don't know anything about that stuff. Would there be anything worth doing inside the motor if I did decide to add boost. I look forward to reading everyone's opinions and comments. Thank you very much!

A nice header in addition to a full rebuild is a good idea. If you want to drop a thousand or two into it, a nice man in Indiana could port your head up all nice and make said header. Maybe 50 percent more hp

It really depends on what your goal is.

For instance, we've recently swapped the head for a 99 Miata head... And that's not a direct swap.

Why? We wanted +9 hp, hopefully we would get it.

Well my car currently has the stock trans, I wouldn't be opposed to upgrading but tha would be more cost also

I would most certainly recommend it. I don't even like the idea of a stock trans on a BP. Much less one with upgrades.
