I recommend a B6 with a set of twin carbies.
Simple install, lots of power and no computer needed.

B3 is the factory engine in a festiva. Its part of the Mazda B series engine line and is paired with an E series manual transmission. (Normally.)

Any B series engine will fit in these cars without much modification, as well as any transmission that was originally paired with a B series engine. The most common engines in this line are:

          B3- 1.3L SOHC ~63 HP
          B6- 1.6L SOHC ~90 HP
          B6D- 1.6L DOHC ~100HP (?)
B6T- 1.6L DOHC turbocharged ~120 HP (really just guessed on that one. Haven't read up on the B6T much)
          B8- 1.8L SOHC ~no clue HP
          BP- 1.8L DOHC ~124 HP

          The most common trannies are:
E series- weak as all hell comes with the B3
F series- better, works well with most swaps as long as you don't dump the clutch all day
G series- the best one out there but still has its weak points. Mainly 3rd-5th gear and the diff pins. Weld those in, get a LSD, and order a 4th/ 5th gear plate mod if you really want it to take a beating.

That's all I can come up with at 1am when I can't sleep.
