96 aspire motor into 91 stiva L

Currently working on this project. running into an issue with finding the right crank pulley to run my accessories. The aspire motor has the larger crank with a dual 4 rib crank/accessory pulley. I've already swapped all accessories ( which have the V belt pulleys ). In search of where to go from here. I don't know where to look for a dual v belt pulley which will fit the larger crank.

Just to add I know I'm a noobie to this forums. I am very good friends with "Jake88maro" I'm just looking for some advice here so I can get this project done. We are currently at a stand still, hoping someone knows a little more than us.

Welcome to the Forum! Recommend you be more specific with your location; might be people nearby who can lend a hand, or just meet up.

The big-nose cranks came in Festivas built after Jan or Feb 1992, so you would have to source one from a JY in those years. The job is much easier if you don't have PS or A/C, but it sounds like you have one or both.

Possibly you can use big-nose pulleys from Miatas, Proteges and Capris too, but I'm not sure which years would apply. 1994 for sure, maybe some earlier years.

I am assuming your 91 engine has the small nose crankshaft and the pulleys from it are too small.
I believe some late 91's had the larger crank nose.
This is a common issue. You will need to either find a 92 or 93 JY festiva and get the Alternator and AC pulleys from it or
add WTB asking someone on the forum to sell them to you. I have pulled and sold a few but there haven't been any Festivas
in my local PnP for several months.

Thank's guys sorry just made this account a few weeks ago, never updated anything. I'm from North Canton, Ohio. I've got Jake88maro and a good friend of his, Bryant (owns the 900 mile festiva) helping me figure it out.

To add. Yes I have A/C that actually works. that's why I'm concerned. The aspire motor came with an A/c compressor, but it is trashed, the pulley is completely rusted. Also, yes my 91 came with the smaller crank nose.

How do i swap the a/c pulley? can either of you lead me in the right direction, also what do you mean by "JY" I'm guessing that is a trim level? Pics or part numbers would be very helpful in this situation. It's starting to get colder and I need to get this car done. I can't drive my G8 during the winter.

Just so we are clear, I can't just swap crank pulleys? I'll need to swap both a/c and alternator pulleys instead?

Sorry guys I will try to be as specific as possible here. I don't know a whole lot about these things just yet. I just needed a rust free, reliable, daily driver and Jake helped me out. I was driving a 96 aspire last year but everything stopped working on it. No running lights, no wipers, and someone stole my radio.

All he needs is the Large nosed crank and accessory pulleys from a large nosed Festiva that use the v belt on both. His Festiva AC stuff does not have the ribbed pulley commonly found on cars with Power steering. I am shipping him an accessory pulley that will need spaced out but we are still unsure if that is what he will need.

Thank you for the clarification here Bryant. Hopefully your pulley fixes this issue. Fastenal is just up the road so I can find a proper washer to space it out no problem. If not, I'll make one. I just have to be sure it's going to work. I'm not doing it twice, hence the boxes of new parts I've ordered already

If your AC works now try to avoid opening the system when you replace the engine.
I did it twice when I put new engines in two of my Festivas. It makes it a little more inconvenient but it can be done.

You will need the inside pulley that drives the alternator and water pump and the outside pulley for the AC. spacers and the bolts that hold them on.
It would be best to get the correct spacers so you belts will be in perfect alignment.
I believe the last person that I sold a pulley set to was ajbremer. He put them on an Aspire engine that he installed in his Festiva.

I've got no problem refilling the system. It's already empty. I have r12 and r134a at my disposal so that is no issue. Any part numbers? or do you know what model the pulleys were off of? I'll just buy a new one if I have to

For the spacer for the pulleys, I used the Aspire "crank spacer".... to explain I took the 1/16 thick, 6-7 inch diameter round pickup wheel that the Aspire uses for the crankshaft pickup, and I turned it down on a lathe at work, to about 3 inches diameter, and used that as the spacer. The pulleys lined up perfect

What Bryant sent me should work. I will need a 4 rib pulley for the alternator if that can be changed? If not I may need a 4 rib alternator If someone has a spare

It's in. I need a lower radiator hose! It seems that the inlet on the block is different for the aspire motor. Should I just get an aspire 1.3L Lower rad hose? Or a universal fit hose?

I got a Festiva lower rad hose for mine when I swapped in my 94 aspire engine in to my Festiva... you wanna use all Festiva radiator parts
