  • block to trans mating stategy

anybody know which block to trans plate you would use to mate a 1.8L DOHC motor to the G series Capri trans? can you use the B6T plate? i don't have these plates to compare so i want to know which one i need to find for this combination.

Either plate will be fine . The bolt holes in the oil pan don't line up either way you go. I personally go with the Capri g series plate . It looks alittle better .
New build on the way .

I used the escort GT one since that is what I had, but everything shadetree said is spot on.

OK thanks. the G trans i bought from the JY didn't include the plate. luckily though i still have a soon-to-be scrapped escort LXE. it has an ATX but according to ford the plates are the same as the MT. i assume i am going to he stuck using the 1.8 oil pan due to it being a longer block? any big issues using that pan with the festiva engine cradle?

Escort LXE? What engine did that come with?

That had the escort GT drivetrain but in a four door sedan body.

i doubt they'll ever be real collectible but an early 90s escort LX-E and equivalent mercury LTS are pretty rare sedans. both had the same 1.8 DOHC as the GT. but with minimal call outs, it blended in with the million other 4 door escort/tracers making it a great sleeper especially with a 5 spd. too bad mine rusted away. very reliable and comfortable.
