Probably. Though you will at the very least need to upgrade the clutch.

Yes, if you do rolling starts and dont do hard 1-2 shifts the stock transmission will be fine with a turboed 1.6
Some guys have left the stock transmission on a boosted 1.6 and beat on it and it holds up fine for a year or something, other guys manage to break them with a stock 1.3...
It all depends, it will be fine if your easy on it but you will need a stronger clutch of course. There are threads on here about which ones work good.

1.8-1.6 sohc engine mostly bolts in, works really well with a ihi vj14 (b6t) turbo. Buy a good clutch you have ultimate sleeper. Put the turbo in the muffler for best sleeper results. Should be able to do all that for $1,000.

Sounds great ! And too easy ! So the eng mounts - axles - CV joints - and suspension all match up with the 1.6 and 1.8 transmission? What do you have to look out for? What HP do you get with the turbo - and what does "put the turbo in the muffler" mean ? Would like to try it.

Putting a turbo in the muffler is a rear mount turbo it is under the car usually where the muffler used to be. Sounds amazing and it's cool
