I didn't know that... Cool.. CVT's on those carts are always at redline and for performance that's what you would need but I can see how it would work in the 500 and others (they are just family cars) to make a performance car with that type of tranny I think would be very difficult.. Like I stated due to the load on the engine ALL the time.. -Kyle

I would love to get my hands on one of those tranny's. It would mate up with a geared down turbine nicely and the turbine would be able to do high rpm all day with no issues. Not very good milage, but metric assloads of power and a nice sound to boot.OX SMASH!!

Back in the early nineties when I worked the CrimeWatch Escort Service at OSU, there was a Volvo 343 (a small hatch--never imported for sale over here) being tested around the engineering buildings. It had a CVT in it.
I believe one of the companies making early CVTs was called "DAK."

well, that setup is close to what they use in an M1 abrahms tank and it gets about .5mpg, but it's also carrying 60 tons around with it. I'm thinking it would end up somewhere shy of an SUV in fuel economy, but with more power.
I saw a turbine-electric truck at a car show that got 40mpg running on kerosene and 20 on hydrogen.
It doesn't take a very big turbine to make tons of power. Something out of a small helicopter should be sufficient.OX SMASH!!
