  • Need a little help with my new gauges

i ordered a 3 set comprising a volt, water temp, and oil pressure gague. They are mechanical gauges... and I would like to know where the sending unit is for the oil pressure is. If i'm not mistaken I will need a "T'' fitting. Can someone give me the location for the ''T''. Also where is the hookup for the water temp would be. Aprreciated.

For the water temp use the one off of the thermostate housing.

Backside of the engine block, almost in the dead center of it. Can't miss it - it's the only wire coming off the backside of the engine block.

Slap a t-fitting on there, attach the sender to one end and your gauge tube to the other. You'll be good to go.

Return the mechanical gauge and get something electric... You do not want to run a tube that's going to be pumping oil inside your car (think of it breaking and what will happen)...

Will it happen? Maybe not... I wouldn't want to take the risk.

Ok, you got me there - that did happen to me once. Thankfully, the gauges are mounted on piece of plexi mounted on the dash console, so the oil just pooled in the console and destroyed a road map.

I'll keep a mechanical in mind when I replace it. What I'd really love to have is one that reads from 40-80psi (or thereabouts) rather than the 0-120psi that I've got. It frosts me that 80% of the gauge never gets used.

Yes, that's the sort of thing that bothers me.
