  • new dash paint and tach

Well, I painted my dash a little. To give it a more modern look, I painted select pieces a medium silver, including the tach. Notice the paint on the gauge cluster does not go in all the way to the lens, but just the surround.

I thought you guys may want to see my new location for the tach. I used the "clock hole" to mount it, (don't need that area since the stereo has a clock) using a custom made aluminum mount, which is attached inside that area under the dash. if you sit in the drivers seat, it appears the tach is "floating" since you can't see the mount while driving. The tach used to have a black housing and face, but I changed it to silver w/ a white face w/ a Ford logo.
    How do you like it?

nice concept. I particularly like your scheme on the gauge cluster and the center console.
I also painted my dash. But it's not finished yet. It's a two-tone black and beige. black on top, beige on the globe box and everything below the blowers on each side.

Very nice. I've contemplated painting my dash pieces also, but just wasn't sure if I'd like the results. Mostly because painting is not my forte.

I love the tach mount. The silver was a good choice...not to chrome like

I like the silver accent, I have never had luck painting plastic, though, what is the trick to keep it from peeling?

looks great. When I saw the title of the thread I though "oh crap, whats it going to be, a yellow and orange ricer special?" but you picked a nice neutral color that really suits the car.

I don't usually like painted dashes, but I must say it's a great choice of colors, and really looks factory too!!!
