Well... My shop welded me up a nice removable bar similar to the one you've got there... It doesn't look quite as nice as your bar (the tube integrates into the side bracket a lot better)... But mine will be functional.
They made the bracket piece big enough so that it bolts into the lower hole (where you have yours) and then it drops down lower and a long bolt will go into the body. If you look in this picture:
The hole is a couple inches below. Hopefully that piece of metal will be strong enough to hold everything in place and won't let it move too much. I didn't really get a chance to look around too much tonight. I'm going to paint it up tomorrow and then install it after work sometime. Harnesses should be in on Wednesday.
Harnesses should be in hopefully tomorrow, Thursday at the latest. I need to drill the mount out a little bit for the bottom bolt on my drivers side, but that's minor at this point. The bar is solid!
The only addition I want at this point is to get some sort of roll bar padding. I checked the local hardware store and came up empty... I'm going to check Lowes and Home Depot next. I don't think anything will happen, but you never know... And a little bit of padding would be nice. Plus, I think it'll make it look not "so ugly"...
Harnesses came in yesterday... Got part installed over my lunch and the rest installed last night. A few pics are posted at the same link as the last ones.
These things are great. I ripped around a little bit last night to see how they would hold me in and it's perfect!

We'll see how they do in autoX tomorrow.

i will DEFINITELY drive hours for a race event!!! It would be even better than "shooting the breeze"! Even if i had to run on all-season tires in a less than race ready car it would be great just to watch some of you guys who know what your doing!!

the keeper of a wonderful lil car, Skeeter.
Current cars:
91L "Skeeter" 170k, Aspire brakes, G15, BP, Advancedynamics coil overs, etc. My first love.
1990 Kawasaki Ninja 250 - my gas saver, 60+mpg - 40k
2004 MotoGuzzi Breva - my "longer range" bike - 17k
I already expressed my interest in doing a Festiva AutoX event with you... You just need to let me know when and I'll be there!
And you actually just reminded me that I've got a spare camera mount from my Slik tripod that I bought a few months back. I upgraded to a Pro 800 head for the camera to sit on the tripod and the one that came on the tripod got tossed in the box.
It'll be the perfect addition to add for autoX tomorrow! Thanks!
I mounted my camera mount today as well. I'm hoping that the rain they are calling for tomorrow will hold off. I really want to get the car into autoX, but I'm not big on doing it with wet pavement... Especially with the wheels that I'm runnig right now.
We'll see what the morning brings.
If it goes down... Pics and in-car videos will be posted shortly after.
