I have a tach cluster that I'm putting in my '89 L but is doesn't have the wiring for the tach. What all do I need to do since this one unfortunatly is not plug-and-play like my '88 was?

Is it the factory cluster youre putting in? I thought they were all plug and play.Search Master - Honorary Member of Midwest Festiva Inc., Gulf Coast Chapter

Ya it is factory. Not all of them are plug and play. From what I have read on here it seems if you have rear defrost usually you have the tach wireing. That's how my '88 was but my '89 doesn't have rear defrost and also doesn't have the wire for the tach.~Scott

They must have changed it with the 90 and up then because neither my 90 nor my 91 had rear defrost and I was able to plug the tach cluster in and go.Search Master - Honorary Member of Midwest Festiva Inc., Gulf Coast Chapter

instead of running the wire then trying it, why don't you plug in the cluster and see if the tach works before re-wiring it?
if the tach doesn't work you could always temporarily leave it like that until you got more time to run the tach wire

Ipulled the loom open a little and the green/yellow was already there but not hooked up; from what I understand yours is not there at all so yes run the wire to the negative side of the tach
