  • Pacesetter short shifter install tip

    Hello all,

I recently installed a Pacesetter short shifter in my Festiva. Really liked the feel of it other that it seemed to be too far forward... in 2nd, 4th & reverse the shifter knob was about where neutral should be.

I solved the problem by shortening the shift rod by 1/4". Works great and the shifter knob now sits close to the stock position! I'm running with the shifter ball right in the middle of its adjustment range for know. I might try moving it a little higher to shorten the throw a little more.

    Cheers

I love my Pacesetter too. Had one in every one of my Festivas and it really helps make it feel "right" instead of like I'm shifting a Mac truck.

I think mine was under $100 when I ordered from the local auto store...

You want to order the Pacesetter that fits the first generation Probes (which is 89 to 92 I believe)... That'll get you set.

what modes need to be done to make it fit? or is it plug and play?
