When you put the adapter on, the two knubs fit into those two indentions outside of the center hole. then the "pot" on the back of your new steering wheel attaches to the adapter, probably with three bolts, and the steering wheel attaches to the pot via 5 or 8 small screws.

I hope I'm making sense. The three bolts that hold the pot on...you can attach a ground wire to one of these for the horn
I'm with Joe on this one because I just installed a Grant GT wheel on my 93 two days ago. The kit worked perfect. Now there is not as much room between the wheel and the signals as before but that is because of the wheel diameter (smaller) and the wheel profile which is not as deep. Mine works great with the adapter kit.

there were one or two pieces that were in the kit that i did not use. a disc and a spring.
the disc looked to be for the horn, but the piece i showed above worked instead. you can see the worn ring where the horn...thingy....pushed on it

...here. i have a pic of the piece i didnt use...
the black piece shown IS used, it sits over the plastic moulding around the column

        Momo

There was a Momo Mazda steering wheel adapter on the Bay a week or two ago.
That would have given you an extra inch and a half clearance.
What's that red switch on your dash? It looks important. For ejection?

I thought you had to use the turn signal unit that came with the steering wheel year. That way the signal unit is properly spaced from the appropriately dished wheel.

Then again, I'm using Simon's "Pimptiva" turn signal unit with a 1st gen RX7 wheel, so maybe he just bent his signal arms?

If he didn't, then if you're using a less dished "older spec" wheel, find an older turn signal unit (upgrade to a Mazda adjustable intermittant unit out of an older Tracer or 323 DX, etc.) to keep proper wheel/signal arm clearance.
