Recovered the Visors

Finally got the visors done - it wasnt as hard as I thought it would be. I simply cut along the seam at the top and pulled the foam and wire frame out. I then cut along the sides and part of the bottom cureved section to make it lay flat (not cutting the bottom) I then traced the visor upside down on my new material giving myself a little extra room. sewed it insideout accept the top. reincerted the foam and frames and then sewed the top with a trailing stitch- I painted the frame end that connects to the roof before I installed it - Heres how they turned out

Its a vinyl with a thin foam batting glued to it - I used it to give it more of a softer look

I was looking at mine yesterday and thinking about doing the same thing. I might have to do it, you make it seem easy.

Nice. I've been thinking about doing something like that with the plastic trim, such as the sides in the back, they get scuffed up really easy.

It really was simple - I didnt take durring pictures and I'm kicking myself for it - Just make sure you use heavy duty thread and a leather needle

I did mine a couple of years ago. Used a Duplicolor paint that was made for vinyl/plastics. The paint did a pretty good job of filling in all but the worst scratches/scrapes. You'd have to ask FB71 how they are holding up tho, he's got them now.

the vinyl was tore and discolored on mine - plus I want all of the vinyl to match so I bought enough to do the whole cars vinyl needs

I hear ya on the vinyl, I was more talking about the hard plastic pieces, like around the back seat, and in the cargo area. I was lazy, I guess, and just wrapped my visors with material that matched my seat covers. I like your idea much better tho. Looks good.

Oh I got you - I used Krylon Semi Flat to paint plastics - I got the vinyl inserts for the back seat trim panels (like the 121s) but the tabs on the back started to come unglued so before I can put them on I need to pick up another can of contact spray - the only thing I didnt pick up is the head liner material because I plan on doing it in cloth not vinyl
