  • HD Front Lip

Working on a front lip for the car. Ive seen them on other forums. Its the HD or Home Depot Lip. Useing a strip of garage door seal and double sided tape.

I went a step further and used screws and super glue as well. She is not comming off.

Its a little wavy right now as it kind of has memory qualities from being in a roll. But a little bit of heat should fix that. It looks shiny in the pics from the wet glue. Once it cures it should go matte again.

Advantage is that it is pyable and when you hit a curb it will just fold and flip back.

It has three sides. two large and one small.

You can see here how i put the two sided tape on. I found there isnt much on the bottom the festy bumper to stick to, hence the glue and screws. The tape more of less just holds it in place to work with. On other cars with a large flat surface under the tape is enough.

Putting it on I went very slowly from one side to the next. Eyeballing as i went. Mine is far from perfect but im still moulding it in place. I only removed the tape cover as needed so if the rest fliped it wouldnt get dirty on the adhesive.

Like I said I still need to mould it and heat it to get the smooth even look. I may rig up a thin hard wire to run on the inside bottom to give it a brace. The seal is a foam/rubber compound that has give but seems to hold shape at the same time.

Once I lower the car I think it will look even sharper.

I don't see anything wrong with that!
I'd want it lower to the ground, as you said when you drop the car it will be better.
What do you think the garage door seal material is?

Yeah, lawn edging, also has the rounded top edge which might help it fit into the festiva lower bumper better.
But will still require some sort of fasteners be used.
Can't use adhesive with that stuff because it's HDPE.

Ive since replaced this one with a more even/presentable look (cleaner section of the roll). it's been on there for over 3 years and NO sign of damage (i like it).

Actually, was thinking of using the opposite end to your to mount to the lower edge of the festiva bumper cover.
I though the rounded top edge would fit in the grove nicely.

2nd pic is no illusion it really was that rusty on both sides, suprisingly the underside is pretty rust free
