oxbrian - youre right about the fuel cell, i'll have to look into the rules because im trying to keep it in super street, the next class is unlimited and i would have to run with exotics etc. I dont want to do that,

but so far so good... I'll post up some pics as i work on the car if you guys are interested

EDIT- i made this thread for the locals http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=24738

if its worth anyone to drive hear and take any of the parts ive removed please do, id rather give them away for the sake of someones festy longevity then throw anything in the garbage
I could use the horn relay from under the drivers side dash. That should drop you another 3oz.

My car was at 1850 with a BP, Aspire brakes, and everything stripped out except the dash and a set of racing seats (that included pulling the heater core, all the ducting in the dash, etc... I did have the raido and a set of speakers up front too.

There was a thread awhile back that had the weight on a bunch of the stock parts... It was done with a USPS scale, so it was pretty accurate.

Pull the automatic seat belts and put in either a set of 88/89 manual belts, or go with a set of harnesses....

nevermind- I'm an idiot... Didn't see clearly in the pics. Looks like it did have manual belts. :x

Yep sorry for the horrible pic, my sis got back from vacation today with MY camera so i can take some better ones

the seat belts are all removed, my interior will consist of One sparco sprint seat, a harness bar and 3" leaf harness

I had a Momo hub for an mx3 lying around, and after searching pics on the site I saw someones festy with an MX3 steering wheel in it ! so i immediately ran out to the garage and installed the hub with a cheap but good enough 320mm racing wheel i also had laying around

wouldnt i have to remove the metal off the car in order to get it dimpled ..... thats done in some sort of hydraulic press i think

im sure if there were no limitations one could get a festy to 1400 lbs

You can get a set of dimple dies pretty cheap, like $150 for a good set from pirate4x4 and use a C clamp as thin as the festiva body metal is...

I was thinking a big bolt and a half in. impact. That would make quick work of the dimples.

sure do. so i had the car weighed today. 1940lbs. with bp, g trans, aspire swap, 15 in. steelies, spare tire, two seats, assorted stuff in glove box, 3 screwdrivers, a 1/4 in rachet, two small sockets, $3.17 in change, and 7/8 of a tank of gas.

at first the guy kept saying 2940 and i was thinking "This guy is retarded." And he was. 3 thousand pound festiva? no way
