Okay I know and I already read the latest thread on the rear window. However, I have an 88 that I am going to try and put in a defrost rear window. Right now it is just a plain jane window and I was wondering how hard would it be to wire the defrost in to include the switch?? The same thing for the mirrors. I just got back frim minnesota and I was able to get the power mirrors and rear window. I just hope it is not a hassle to install them on my 88. I am hoping to get this done before next month since I have an all expense paid trip to overseas for the next 7 months. Any info would help, thank you.

2 wires
There are two wires. A short one that grounds to the hatch, and the power wire that comes up from inside the hatch and has two small wire guides to hold it close to the glass. I sure hope it's part of the wiring harness. If it is, then the switch end must exist also. Let me know if you need a picture.
If you only have the glass, get a professional to install it, if you have never done it before.
As for the mirrors, if you don't have a wiring harness, just install them and the control switch without it until you can find the proper harness. Just carefully adjust the mirrors manually, once. After all, you are the only driver, right?Last edited by bravekozak; 02-17-2010, 08:35 PM.

yes I am the only driver since my family out numbers the amount of seats in the car. As far as the window goes, i have installed windows on various types of heavy equipment. I just dont know if a car will be any different. I did look at one thread that has a excerpt from a book. I think I can do it, but to be on the safe side I might wait until one of my buddies can assist me. It is always better to have two idiots working towards the same goal than just one. It also gives my wife someone else to blame besides me lol.Man should eat when he can for Man does not know when his last meal will be.

why not just swap the hatch out? If it is a wasted hatch....just find one with defrost that is in good shape and swap it. Would be easier if you ask me."FLTG4LIFE" @FINALLEVEL , "PBH"

does anyone know if the inside panel for the side mirrors can be modified for power mirrors. In other words an 88 interior cover plate for the passenger mirror. Could that be used to mount a power mirror off of a newer festy? I dont know how much newer, if I would have to guess I would say a 91-93.Man should eat when he can for Man does not know when his last meal will be.

Thanks, i am hoping to get the passenger one mounted tomorow after I get something to remove the paint. I tried sanding it and I dont have the patience for that right now. So I am going to see what the auto parts stores have to offer while most of my kids are in school. I will let you all know if i suceed in modifying the plate.Man should eat when he can for Man does not know when his last meal will be.
