Well I got the new/used mirrors painted. Now I just have to sand them down and put another coat on them and maybe a couple coats of clear. I will post pics when I finish it. Hopefully by monday, right now it is crunch time to do all my last minute honey to do list before I leave. So we will see if I get these done.

        Protege

Try pulling out the power mirror wires from an old Protege and see if they are the same.

does it need to be 'an old protege'? my JY has a lot of cars (duh) but the mazdas all have busted or missing mirrors..

Swoopie is slang for the '90 LX mirror, the design only came on the '90 LX Festiva, but you can find them on some Mazda Proteges.

If you want I can keep an eye out for you for a power mirror harness if I ever make it to a Junkyard.

well whatever i end up getting im not going to pay a lot for it. i like JY prices.. im really just trying to figure out how to hook the mirrors up to the plug, that the switch plugs into. i have no idea where the other end of that plug is since they dont go to the doors.. after that then i just need the mirrors and switch right?

Yep, all you need is the mirrors, switch and harness.

you will need the short harness that goes from the mirror to the door harness

on some of the older festys you will need the door harness as well

Behind the dash - just pop off your door card and peal back your plastic - there should be a wire running in the door to the latch and there should be an empty two pronged plug on that just above the alterate speaker location (middle front part of the door) you will see the plug hooked to the inside of the frame with a clip - if this is there then you have the door harness - I think its only the 88's - and some 89 & 90's that dont have the harness in the door.

you will plugh the short pigtail into that plug.

Bummer! I just scored from the JY a set of PW mirrors, short pigtails & switch from a 88LX hoping I could slap them on my 89L but now I come to learn my car has no harness from doors to dash/switch?
Am I going to run into the same thing with the cargo light, R. wiper/washer (pump) defrost hatch?

No. the inner sail plates are different for both manual and power mirrors.
